John Hancock Center
John Cock Center is one of the popular building of the world and definitely renowned building in Chicago. John Hancock Center is 100 story building which was constructed in year 1969. The shape of the building the x shaped architecture was the center of attraction. Fazlur Kahn who was the engineer by profession and the Bruce Graham who was the great architect took the responsibility of developing the John Hancock Center in Chicago city.
Architecture
Frame system used in the development of the building was also used in Sears Tower by Fazlur Kahn. The use of the software and modern methods of architecture was the specialty of the building. The strong wind which affected the John Hancock tower was not harmful in the construction of the John Hancock Center because the architecture Fazlur Kahn used the well refined way of designing. The modern method and the steel architecture helped in overcoming the problem of wind blowing which harmed many other buildings. The steel which is considered too heavy for considered too heavy for construction was not used too much due to modern architecture.
Residence and Commerce
The building was divided between the commercial center and the living area. 48 Floors were used for the purpose of apartments and 29 floors were made for the shops, restaurants and other commercial purpose. Offices and swimming pools are made on the upper floors and top floor is used for the television and radio facilities. The top floor apartments are so high that even the cloud height is less. Many people booked the apartments in the lower floors and enjoyed the shopping on the upper floors.
Controversy
In the initial stages of construction there was controversy due to the other buildings in the mall Avenue. Many people debated on the location of the building but criticism came to end in later stages of construction. The problem of noise from the Mall Avenue was solved by redesigning of the building by constructing fountain.
Observatory
The observatory built on the top of the building was the center of attraction. Many tourists visited the top floor for getting the wonderful view of the Chicago city. The restaurants and the shops on the top floor with all sorts of facilities for the tourists win the heart of the people. Travelers used to visit the John Hancock Center and enjoyed the clicking of photographs.
The services provided in the building were awesome. Even the Post Office was opened on the upper floor for the help of people.
