The John Hancock Tower

John Hancock buildings are situated in city of Boston which is one of the oldest cities in US and popular city of Massachusetts. Three buildings were constructed in the Boston city by the John Hancock insurance companies for the office use. John Hancock tower is beautiful building in which glass work is used that makes it quite attractive. John Hancock Tower is edifice of Boston and it is also known as Hancock place. John Hancock tower is 60 story building and about 241m high. I.M Pie and Henry N. Cobb were the master designers of the skyscraper and the building got completed in the year 1976.

Tower Description
John Hancock tower is the tallest skyscraper of Boston and the designer Cobb was given the award for the excellent design of the building. According to the survey John Hancock tower has 166th position among the tallest building of the world and it is tallest building of Boston and New England. John Hancock Tower is situated on the 200 Clarendon Street and it is considered as the mailing address for the official purpose. Hancock Place is also used the mailing address by the officers. The dazzling building has glass work which is reflective but still it requires air conditioning system.

Design
The design of the Hancock tower is fantastic piece of work. Many designers tried to develop the buildings using the concept and designs of John Hancock Tower but none of the designs were perfect and the try does not turned in to success. Concept of Minimalism was used in the construction of the design of the building. The color of the glass used in the construction of the outer building is blue in color which is quite distinct from the color of the sky. Parallelogram was the shape chosen by the architect of the building which looked amazing and attracts the attention of the designers.

Problems
The cost estimation of the building was near about USD 75 but the estimate was a failure and the professionals engaged in the construction of the building were embarrassed. USD 175 was the cost of construction that was finally calculated. The flaws in the engineering added more to the woes. The upper floor of the building suffered from the problem of Nausea and people felt sickness in the top floor. Glass tragedy also worsened the situation.

The effort that was put in architecture was not accomplished in engineering and construction but still it is the master piece of work renowned all over the world.
